Tomorrow, Thursday 16 December, will be our last session of 2010. We will be joined by Baby Sensory who will be demonstrating one of their classes, and children from The Elms Junior School who will be singing a few Christmas carols.
The Elms Nursery will be our new home for Bumps and Babies from Friday 14 January. The times of meetings will be changing - we will start at 9.30am and finish at 11.30am. We will be welcoming everyone from Bumps to Toddlers but please note this isn't a group at which you can just drop your toddler and go - a parent or carer will need to stay with the child.
Our Thursday group may be continuing but only if we can find some people to help run either the baby group or the new group. It isn't a huge commitment - I'll continue to take all the phone calls, and ensure all the coffee, tea and biscuits are topped up. We just need a few people who are happy to be responsible for welcoming new parents to the group and introducing them to others with similar-aged babies.
If you could help, please call me on 07711 956779.
Many thanks

Long Eaton B&B - What's Coming Up
As I write, there is snow on the ground but not as much as predicted and in fact it sounded like it was melting when I opened the door to let the cat out. I hope to open Bumps and Babies every week until 16 December, regardless of the weather, because it's not too far for me to walk from my house. If for any reason I can't, I will post something on here. Please check each week if you are concerned.
Here is a reminder of our final few weeks' programme for 2010.
Thursday 2 December
Award-winning photographer Kay Oliver will be setting up a studio in the church hall and doing mini portrait sessions. Please bring along your child's favourite blanket, toy or outfit.
Sticky Fingers should be in this week bringing the pottery back that we created a few weeks ago. Mandy normally arrived about 11am so she can quickly give everything out.
Thursday 9 December
Harriet Daines, a medical student from the University of Nottingham will be popping back to video more mums and babies for a study they are conducting at the moment. You can read more on our website.
Thursday 16 December
Baby Sensory are coming along to give a demonstration of how their classes work.
This is the final session of 2010 and our very last Thursday session in the church hall. I'm hoping some local schoolchildren will be coming along to sing some carols and get us into the Christmas spirit.
Our first session of 2011 will be on Friday 14 January, 9.30am to 11.30am and will be held in the Nursery at The Elms Junior School on the Trent College campus. There will be some parking available on site - follow the signs when you get through the main entrance. There's also usually parking available on Derby Road but, as with many places in Long Eaton, you may find it easier to walk.
From January the group will be open to older babies and toddlers as well as newborns. The set-up of the nursery will, I believe, allow us to section off a quieter area for anyone who has a young baby and would prefer to be away from the older children. We'll also have use of the garden area for when the weather is good (or even when it's snowy).
If you'd like to know anything more about the group at Long Eaton, please feel free to give me a call on 07711 956779 or email me.

Long Eaton New Babies!
We had an influx of new mums this morning to Bumps and Babies. I was expecting Danielle and Wren but we had two other completely new faces - Anoushka with her baby and Julia with 2-week-old Arlin.
We were also joined by Fran & Nigel with 6-day-old Finlay, and Nora with Danny. We now have lots of very young babies which is lovely as our older ones are moving on to other activities and some of the mums are going back to work.
If you're looking for somewhere to go with your baby, please come and join us every Thursday morning at St John's Church Hall, on the corner of Canal Street and College Street in Long Eaton. A warm welcome awaits you (and you can help yourself to as many cups of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits as you wish!); [original article]
